Join us for our next Fremont County Women Who Care meeting on Wednesday, August 14th, from 5:30-6:30 PM at The Hive, 729 Main Street. We're excited to announce that Coming Home Realty will be sponsoring this event!
At the meeting, we will be accepting nominations for local nonprofits, drawing three nominations at random, and voting to decide which organization will receive our collective support. We will also hear an update from our May recipient, Kindred Kids.
New members are always welcome! If you're passionate about making a difference in our community, we encourage you to attend.
How do I become a member of Fremont County Women Who Care?
To become a member of Fremont County Women Who Care you must complete the online membership form. It's simple and should take no longer than 5 minutes to complete!
How many women can join Fremont Women Who Care?
Any woman who wants to make a difference and can commit to donating once per quarter is welcome to join us! Our goal is so have at least 100 women, but if we can grow larger than that, we could make an even bigger impact in Fremont County. The More The Merrier is our motto.
How long do meetings last?
Our meetings are fairly short, sweet, and to the point. Typically, they are about an hour long. Light hors d'oeuvres, usually donated by a local restaurant or caterer, are served during the meeting while we hear the nonprofit pitches, vote, and donate our money.
Do I have to attend the meeting to make a contribution?
Of course we would love for you to attend our meetings, but we understand schedule conflicts can frequently pop up. If you are unable to attend one of our quarterly meetings, you can take your contribution to Gift Chateau, located at 731 Main Street in Downtown Cañon City. Let them know you are giving them money for your Fremont County Women Who Care contribution.
How does a non-profit get chosen to receive donations?
At each meeting, members of Fremont County Women Who Care write their non-profit nominations on a piece of paper. From these nominations, three non-profits are chosen. The Fremont County Women Who Care member who nominated the chosen non-profits then have 5 minutes to tell the group why their non-profit should be chosen to receive funds. After this, members vote on which non-profit they want to receive the donations.
The non-profit who receives the most votes from Fremont County Women Who Care members is the organization who will receive the donations for that quarter.
Which organizations are allowed to be considered for sponsorship?
In order to be considered at a meeting, the non-profit or organization must be based in the Fremont County, Colorado area. Organizations and non-profits must commit to keeping all contributions from Fremont County Women Who Care in the local community. Recipients should be 501(c)(3) organizations. Special considerations can be made, but must be discussed with Fremont County Women Who Care prior to contribution consideration.
Does all of my contribution go to the chosen local charity?
Yes! Absolutely 100% of your money goes straight to the chosen charity. Each charity keeps all contributions local, so your money is staying right here in Fremont County. Fremont County Women Who Care is run by philanthropic women who are volunteering their time, so no one within our organization receives any monetary compensation.
Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes! All donations are tax deductible because the organizations we contribute to are all 501(c)(3) organizations.
How often can a non-profit or charitable organization receive contributions?
Once a charitable organization receives contributions from Fremont County Women Who Care, they are not eligible to receive donations again for a full calendar year. This ensures that we are able to spread the love and support a variety of other non-profits throughout the year.
